What is a Furniture Paint?

There are many types of Furniture Paint but in essence it is a generic term for a paint that is used to transform any piece of old or new furniture.

Often Furniture Paints are used to create a variety of styles from a heavily distressed finish for a shabby chic antique look to a block finish for a modern classy look. There are many accompanying products that run alongside Furniture Paints including waxes, top coats and various additives for all upcycling ideas.

Where can a Furniture Paint be used?

Furniture Paints are often used to transform tired looking furniture whether it be a chest of drawers, dresser, table and chairs, sideboard or kitchen cupboards. We have even had customers use our Chalk Coat on milk bottles, vases, flower pots and pint glasses for weddings and garden parties.

What to consider when buying a Furniture Paint for upcycling?

The thing to consider when purchasing a Furniture Paint is the finish you require whether it be a chalky flat finish, an eggshell finish with a slight sheen or a gloss finish and what style you are hoping to achieve.

If you are looking to create a distressed or shabby chic finish we would recommend a chalk paint followed by a top coat to seal any styles as well as add protection to your piece of furniture.

An eggshell or gloss finish may be best suited if you are looking to create a sleek block finish, eggshell and gloss finishes can be easily wiped clean and are best suited for coffee tables or table tops that may see high traffic, hot liquids etc.
